Good title and a good film; it was better than I expected to get from the standard Hollywood grist. This is one film in which the title is both apropos to the initial plot-driving event and an accurate metaphor for the protagonist's lives. A car crunch sends the two main characters off into a spiral of interactions that are each one's worst possible dream. For me, Samuel Jackson stole the show. He is really great at portraying a man with 100 years of suppressed anger. Ben Afflect continues to play himself, but this time most of it matches the character. The plot has some good twists and turns.... I stayed engaged. It's not a classic but it was good entertainment. 2002-12-13 |
