Get ready to read subtitles. This is a Danish film sprinkled with Italian. Its primary goal is entertainment no hidden agenda, no deep philosophy, no special effects. I found it a charming movie and fun to watch. It is European and it has that matter-of-fact earthiness, a characteristic that I find refreshing in the European culture. The plot involves six regular folks, a church pastor, a hotel manager, a hotel café manager, a café waitress and a hairdresser. The relationships between these six begin with restraint and change during the course of the story linked in unexpected ways. Although categorized as a comedy, the story is about life with its pathos, its joy and of course, its comedy. We laughed a lot, and you will too if you can read fast enough. |
