Stereotypically Oscar Wilde, this play, then movie, continues to tickle our fancy.  I've seen a stage version, a high school stage version with my stepson in it, the old movie done by Brits in 1952 (released this year on DVD) and now this new movie version, released this year.  If you watch this one, you will recognize Rupert Everett doing Algy, alias Earnest and Colin Firth doing Jack, alias Earnest.

This is one of those entertainments, where you can put your analysis tools to sleep, relax, and prepare to laugh at the foibles of humans.  Sure it's a fantasy, but haven't we all done something foolish, tried to hide it, then been exposed?  Well, I have.

One last comment about this production, Judi Dench plays Lady Bracknell in grand English style.  She's a joy to watch.
