If you have a curiousity to know more about the man behind the myth, you will be happily surprised by the first accounts that are related in Audry Lynch's book Steinbeck Remembered.

Audry is a great admirerer of Steinbeck and has ammassed a large collection of Steinbeckian memorbilia. But the stories she has collected from his friends and cohorts are the most highly treasured. Audry herself conducts tours and gives talks about Steinbeck's life. I fell in love with Steinbeck when I read Sweet Thursday and Audry's book was a wonderful way to get to know the man.
