Franchon Lyons Reviews:
Dancing Naked...in Fuzzy Red Slippers
by Carmen Richardson Rutlen

Dancing Naked…in fuzzy red slippers is fun, whimsical and heart-warming. Carmen Richardson Rutlen mother, mom, wife, woman, she is me. Her experiences and thoughts are foot prints of my life. It was nice to read and know that there other desperate women out there who love to write and can laugh and dance too. Carmen's poems, sonnets, short stories and notes are a scream. I laughed out loud and cried in side. Her format is easy to read anytime and anywhere. You can grab a smile at the fast food line or while under the hair dryer.
Two of my favorite excerpts are A Prayer for Money and The Scale. Here is a sample of Carmen's thoughtful humor.
The Booger
One day my ex-husband
Made me mad.
Actually, what he did was
Hurt my feelings,
because hurt in me shows like
mad.
He was an accountant,
And displays of anger
made him uncomfortable.
I stuffed my anger
for a while.
That night
When we went to bed,
I put a booger on his pillow.
The next day
He went to a board meeting
with a booger in his hair.
My anger went away.
I especially like when she tells about her son, because I have a teenage son also and when I read about her bouts I do a little dance and give him a hug. This book is not a commitment it's a visit that you will enjoy. This is a great nightstand book, a let's have a cup of tea book, light reading that will bring back memories and warm your soul. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks Carmen for being fun and for writing it down. |
