Learn to Sign the Fun Way Penny Warner's Learn to Sign the Fun Way is a friendly introduction to a new language. The illustrations are simple and actions are easy to demonstrate. The cartoony characters are cute and friendly. Penny has fun exercises after each chapter that offers additional practice examples are “Sign the Street Signs” or “Sign the Back of the Cereal Box.” Penny provides tips and hints along the way as well as information about deafness and hearing impairment. My ten year old daughter learned to fingerspell in the forth grade now we can sign to each other and learn more with the help of this book. I've also used this book to increase the language development of my 13 month old. Signs and sounds is how she communicates and with this book I have been able to increase our level of communication. Learn to Sign the Fun Way has great puzzles, games and activities that are easy and fun for groups and individuals. Teachers will like exercises like “Sign a Poem” and “Daffy Deaf-initions.” Parents can use their trip to the grocery store as a new lesson when they play “Sign the fruit” or “What is the price?” Whether it is used to communicate with someone who is hearing impaired or to have fun with a friend this book will serve as a great tool in language development. My favorite activity is Sign Search. This game is just like Hidden Word Search, only Sign Search uses the manual alphabet. This book is a fun way to learn to sign and will make a wonderful addition to your child's library or as a gift for a special teacher.
