Maureen Musumeci Reviews:
We all have our challenges as we go through this adventure we call life. Becky LeBlanc writes poignantly about her challenge as a wife married to a visually impaired spouse in “Thoughts on Blindness”. This is a very moving, tender yet witty, still unfolding story of learning to live with someone you love who is slowly going blind. Becky's husband has RP (Retinitis Pigmentosa). This is a progressive condition affecting the rods in the eyes that distinguish light from darkness and the cones in the eyes that distinguish color. Over time the rods and cones deteriorate until the affected person is totally without vision. How does such a condition affect a couple's relationship and life? Does this condition change things between two people who have hopes and dreams? Who in fact “mows the lawn”? Although this is a serious topic Becky approaches it with love, both spiritual and human, common sense, and wit. She even gives lessons on how to steal French-Fries from a blind man! |
