SENIOR CHECKING
by JoAnne Henderson
The other day I went into a local bank to open an account. We were discussing services and fees when the bank officer pointed out that the fees would be lower for me. Why?
I was eligible for Senior Checking.
Senior ? I'm only 53, for crying out loud. Yes, AARP sends us mail, and hubby and I take Centrum Silver—so what? Okay, at family gatherings (unless older sister Lois flies in from Arizona ), we are the oldest folks present. That's just because the real Seniors have migrated to Florida . All right, all right, I've had a colonoscopy and my hormones are now in the post-menopausal range. But Senior? No way!
On the other hand, they were offering free American Express travelers checks and no charge for stop-payment orders. Maybe Senior Checking is not so bad after all.
